Remember back in strip 6 ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6184844/ ) when Rainbow Dash gave KT a thrilling ride through the sky? Well today, KT tries to return the favor.
Oh yeah, also, this is an actual toy they sell in stores. Rainbow Dash with her pet turtle that she's totally allatime hanging out with on the show. She calls him "Tibby" or "Shelly" or "Sir Not Appearing In This Series".

I like how the big feature they point out in the toy is that the turtle can ride on her back.
Like any kid with that toy wouldn't figure that out.
It's like saying "Water bottle looking thing can fit inside Dash's weird scooter basket!" "Kneepads are pink!"
But yeah I've really been enjoying this comic. :) Never miss an update!

I'm sure that's for the benefit of the parents, who are too busy to examine the toy with a creative eye, and need the features broken down into easy-to-digest bullet points. "Would this thing be good for little Susie? Hmm, turtle rides on back. Aha, interactive play for stimulating brain cells or however that parenting magazine I read once phrased it!"
That's why Celestia is pink. Because it's not the end user making the purchasing decisions. "Ooh, cute pink pony! Little Susie loves that crap. I'll get her one!"

I can almost hear this play on the last panel of the comic with the Rainbow Dash figure http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7g9WjcGdxuM
According to what I've heard, Hasbro sometimes comes to the animators with a MLP toy they want to sell, and ask them to work it into the show. The animators don't feel pressured to do it; if they don't, no biggie. But sometimes they take it as a challenge to see how well they can work it in without it seeming unnatural and out of place.
In this case, they definitely succeeded!
