Finally, a text box I can type in. Social media platforms leave a lot to be desired when it comes to explanations.
Basically, Im new to 3d sculpting, and even more new to rigging. I tried using blender, but the program itself was not user friendly nor intuitive. (Can't just drag the camera, have to go to the camera button to move view, ugh). So I decided to use a different program, one leaning more towards rigging specifically. ('Morphin') the new program has allowed my project to progress. But there were hiccups along the way.
Firstly, I learned my file had to be way smaller, so I learned how to decimate, then uv, bake texture.
I discovered that when using one solid object, pieces too close to eachother acted as the same whole... okay thats hard to describe... what ended up happening was the shell and head got fused together.
So I made sure that each object was its own thing, instead of one single leo, I uploaded 4 meshes. Leos green bits, eyes, shell(back), plastron(front).
From there I could only move his green bits after rigging just that mesh.
I didnt know how to add the other meshes to that rig. I had seperate things, and only one was moving. The others were static.
It took a full day of watching videos and messing around. until at some magical point my brain realized the 'Parent' button. So I made new bones for the other meshes, then parented their bones to the main rigged skeleton.
Now I can move the shell and plastron with the body. I can make the eyes move, but they *really* move. They dont just rotate around in the socket. Im guessing ill get better at doing eyes over time.
So anyways thats the update.
Now, moving forward...
- Im still unsure how to add the belts. .3. I think I could maybe make half the belt apart of the shell, and half a belt a part of the plastron and then just weight paint them...??
- I thought I had to make the mask its own mesh to do expressions, but it turns out I can do the expressions in nomad, as layers, so i will have to add the mask back on over there instead, and fiddle with layers in general
- one of the eyes turned purple and got choppy during the process, no idea what thats about
If you read all that, im glad, thank you for understanding the struggles of my journey
