Thank you very much for playing!State of Trueself is an interactive story set in an alternate future, during the era of large-scale space exploration, where humans have discovered they're not alone in the universe. After a tragic war, humanity is trying to find common ground with the Drakians—and then it encounters other beings: Cybernetics. On Earth, new technologies are rapidly advancing. One key path is tech enabling morphological freedom for humans, bringing huge benefits: from healing bodily injuries to reshaping the body into one's true desired form. This gave rise to meta-humans, who look more animal-like, mythical, or alien. Meanwhile, productivity-boosting tech demanded enhanced human performance, boosting the share of cyborgs—not Cybernetics, but people with metal modifications and implants. All this, amid relentless technological progress that spares no one, makes some fear change and view meta-humans as a dehumanization threat. Certain politicians exploit this, sowing division and rage against "horrible non-humans." Your task: snatch victory from one such politician.
This is a linear text-based game of 14 thousand words. Warning: For a good ending, you need over 40% of the votes (maximum is 47%). At 31-40%, another candidate wins because a third candidate spoils your votes—and there's no runoff. At 30% or less, the third candidate wins (though you're the spoiler then, hehe).
