I couldn't understand his frustration at first, but I think I understand that he's slowly losing all senses of being able to talk to "other humans" like things are normal. In other words, the reality of his situation is finally hitting him and he's terrified and depressed at this reality.
Well, at least Lucius provided a “private” spot for Travis, that’s one of the necessities for the shy cats in zoos. And Dakota seems to be settling in nicely, as the leader of her “pack”. Though, I’m not sure if it’s normal for the animals to be the ones to move the furnishings around in their habitat…
Which leads me to wonder, if this zoo has any “human” personnel. Do they not have any human staff officially, or does one of Lucius’ illusions have them covered?
