Roel isn't the prettiest cow around, nor is he the strongest, and he's not gifted with magic like his older brother. However, he is a smart and determined guy. When he spent more time with his (future) girlfriend Imola, who has shared her secret with him that she's a dullahan, she shared that there's a secret war going on; the so-called Kitsune Klan is out to gather all magical power for themselves to rule the world as gods, and all other magical authorities and their allies have been trying to stop them. The Dullahans do this in the name of Lucifer, Judge against Evil, and out of the public eye, she has been training with her rapier to fight them if it ever comes so far. Roel wanted to help her in this fight against evil, but had no experience with any blade. She trained him personally (as well as her dullahan friends) and found that Roel was a quick learner. Several years later, he was a skilled swordsman, being able to fight on Imola's side. Since he was a regular guy, most of their foes would focus on the supernatural being Imola was, and therefore Roel could often surprise them because he would be underestimated by his enemies. But his role would later take an even bigger turn in importance...
