It was loosely based on pterosaurs, except two wing fingers and thumbs instead of the spur spanning the propatagium.

The extended hand section is not usually seen, normally they clump the attachment point there. Very nice!

Yes, most of them base their wings on bats, usually forgetting that the metacarpals are involved in spanning the web and make out-of-place human palms.

Good question, really - does any spider perceive much of a taste difference between the different types of prey? Or is it all just mushy protein nourishment?

Well, they do have chemoreceptors and won't eat stuff that tastes bad to them.

Hmm, okay, so a basic sense of taste then. So perhaps they could tell if something tasted like chicken. Then perhaps we should be talking about larger spiders capable of taking down a chicken.
