Actually I have the same condition with my eyes.
Its called Lazy-eye, or monocular vision.
Was born with it, but I can see. My brain literally turns off one eye, and sees through the other to avoid two different images seen through each eye at once.
The disadvantage is having almost 00 depth perception, however the brain kicks in and lets me still drive, and trained myself to use one eye effectively.
And one thing about Derpy, I'm certain she isn't stupid or retarded as others may think.
