"You ever hear of tarot cards Ben? Those cards with neat little illustrations on them that some people think predict the future? The card with unlucky number thirteen on it is called "Death", and it means sudden transformation, major changes and endings. Now it's not a literal thing, it's not like when you pull a Death card during a reading you're fated to die, but rather something major is going to happen in your life to change you forever, and as someone who has died, let me tell you about my experience with Death, and the change it can give you.

I like to think I was a simple Neko in my first life, but truth be told nothing was ever simple for me, not helped by the fact that I had a mouth that I couldn't stop running, and anger issues that made being around me uncomfortable. I won't bore you with all the details, but know that I spent my life being as good of a heroic healer as I could be, but I wasn't good enough since all my friends died before me. Eventually I died too, and when I reached heaven, none of my friends were there, not because they were sinners, but in the afterlife I went to, you can choose to forgo paradise and be reborn in another universe, but at the cost of the memories of your past life.

Needless to say I was crushed, what is paradise when you have no one to share it with? But my situation turned from bad to worse, a demon named Mementos managed to sneak his way into heaven and made a deal with me, he told me he could give me a second chance at life while allowing me to keep my memories, but I would have to sacrifice parts of myself, and wait for an unspecified amount of time for the universe my friends were reborn in... I think you can tell by looking at me that I took the deal. I waited in a room where I could look down at Earth, and waited for the heat death of seven universes before I saw the universe Mementos described, and when it came time to pay the piper, I let him bite an arm off and took on aspects of a demon in my new life.

I was honestly surprised Mementos honored his deal and actually resurrected me, but I know now it was to make me suffer. People were scared of me now, some chased after me with weapons thinking I was going to hurt them, and I kept telling myself it was all worth it to see my friends again. But even that wasn't true, none of my old friends recognized me, and how could they? They gave up their memories for a chance at rebirth.

Only then did I see how big of a fool I was, I gave up paradise for people that never waited for me when I watched the heat death of seven universes waiting for them. Don't feel bad for me though Ben, I don't tell you about all this to garner sympathy, I tell you as a cautionary tale, do your best to adapt to changes or the ending of something, else you risk turning out like a fool like me, who trusted the wrong people."

What shocks me is the fact that demon was so willing to grant it with such a heavy price. No doubt what happened to you is what he wanted... And that infuriates me!

I'd do anything to free you from his twisted deal! But all I can think about is making him pay! Plus... I don't know how to do it. I know I may worry you. But I want to do something to help. To show something I care. I will heed your advice when my time comes. But until then, I want to be the friend who cares. And to hopefully never forget how much we've been through."
