While she's known along people who meet her as usually easygoing, ironic and joyful, her subconscious mind used to hide itself under the cloak of insecurities and the pursuit of meeting the needs of someone else and, when the night comes, that cloak would fall to reveal a mellow side of her psyche; she would frequently have dreams about being a lone chromosome, wandering aimlessly. It was a formulaic dream sequence, too: wander around, watch the freaks transporting colorful things that looked like proteins, meet a bunch of her own clones then cue to the wall of crying and whimpering as the cell -- that they were all in -- divided, or went under mitosis if you're a biology nerd.
While all of this seems pretty weird -- and actually is pretty weird -- it was a quite sad experience to her, and it felt like she had just lost someone or something important in her life... Don't expect aliens to think like humans.
She hided that from everyone for a long time, but her friend, Tully had to squeeze it out of her as it was for her own good. Repressed feelings on movagalbae can lead to very serious health problems, and he did not want to think about Armelinda suffering in silence in such cold nights.

I had painted this just like I did with a previous traditional piece, Super Fuzzy Deer, using acrylic paint. The key difference here is that I used an actual canvas instead of watercolor paper (believe me, it worked mighty fine) and everything was done on the same canvas, including the sketching and line art. This is actually supposed to be the remake of a previous, unreleased digital piece that had a very early design of Armelinda Birugoa and three basic animation loops in the same picture. I had the original idea during a Biology class.
She was initially supposed to be a very lily-livered character and would act in a childish way; saddest saddo sailing down the sea of sour sorrow and of her own selfish sadness, maybe. I gave up on the immature temper, going for a more composed female figure, but I've decided to keep the chromosome thing tho, I found both a funny and off-the-wall scenario that is also quite sad when I wrote it down.
Stuff:
* Acrylic paint;
* Pencil and eraser, and;
* Black marker pen.
