Finches are really great! They're really adorable, easy to care for (they don't need any playtime or personal affection, just food, water and room to fly) and live a pretty long time.

i've witnessed birds who will just throw the seeds they don't like right out of the cage. repeatedly. birds are such assholes!

My friend has a bird that throws seeds at people all the time. It's kind of a jerk. It likes to sing 'Let it snow' though, lol.

My dads parrot does that, listening to it sneeze when it get's a seed stuck up it's nose is funny though.

He throws it with his paws though.
I have two types of food I mix - lab pellets and a seed mix. With both it's an unholy mess. With just pellets, he grinds them into a fine powder and it's hard to clean...With just the seeds, the area surrounding his cage is COVERED IN SEEDS.
His bedding is paper towels too, so he shreds them and usually tosses them out of the cage fghjs
He doesn't do any of this if I have something there to prevent it from goig everywhere though.

AHAHA, the disappearing to eat and resurfacing is great. I've always found it pretty funny looking when my birds do that.

lol I never had a bird but my damn hamster used to love to do this. He'd stash his food away and then when I got near the cage he'd either toss it at me or stuff his cheeks and wait for me to take him out and he'd spit it at me. :( or just deposit a food-blob on my hand like "I love you here's some spitty hamster food!"

My LAME CANARY lives in a tank and does that EXACT SAME THING. I put a dish os seed in there and I come back like an hour later and there is NO SEED LEFT IN THE DISH. IT'S ON THE FLOOR.

At the wildlife hospital i volunteer at, the small bird room is always the messiest because of their food on the ground X3 It gets messy again a minute after you sweep the floor.

I used to breed society finches and oh my god exactly this. I'm laughing so hard I'm in tears.

Finches are amazingly messy. They must just bath in their seed, screw eating it!
