Map of the Coal Peninsula
TRANSCRIPT
She cried, and any attempts I made to get near her, she pushed me away. The farmers had to get between us and did their best to comfort Lily themselves. And all I could do was watch.
I felt terrible. I knew this wasn't what Lily wanted, but I didn't want this path for myself either. I had always kept fighting on regardless because I had to. For us both.
I didn't intend to try and force anything on Lily, I just wanted a safe place for her. But sadly the only place I know of would be with the Kin. And that single life-line will not come without a fight.
One of the farmers came to me and let me know that Lily will be OK, but she will need some time to let her emotions out.
I let Pathfinder know the job was done and swiped the convoy lead's comms device to upload. Then I let the Mayor know who was a bit more interested in Lily's condition. She said that Lily was essentially suffering from an identity crisis. She knows wielders well, and their 'programming'. Lily might have chosen a life for herself, but she can never get rid of this programming in all of us. The purpose of why we were created by STEEL. To fight.
And for Lily, who is far more in touch with her emotions than me, that programming bubbled up into unbridled rage. As it was back at the Well, and as it was here when the prisoners were in danger.
So what does this mean? Well she explained that rogue wielders go in one of three paths.
One is to abandon their wielder identity and hope no triggers for their programming come up. Where Lily once was.
The second is to fully embrace the programming, but redirect it for their own goals. Seems I fall in here
And the third is to find a balance. It isn't impossible for wielders to build up their own life yet still do the things STEEL programmed into them, but to do so would mean coming to terms with the programming. But since the can of worms have been opened for Lily, option one is now off the table.
In other words. Lily needs to learn to accept this side of her, if she wants to live the happy life she desires.
