Steelhead trout guy
Merfolk Peony, sketched to answer to the tumblr question (from an anon): "Would Peony also be a steelhead trout?"
So... Of course! Same species of Rose :)
Peony is considered a typical male steelhead, with dark skin and silvery scales, lighter ventrally and darker dorsally, where he has rich red spots and stripes. Muscular and athletic, he nevertheless has slightly less subcutaneous fat than the "ideal" specimen, perhaps because, unlike many other specimens, he spends most of his time working, chipping away at rocks in search of rare minerals, which he sells to other merfolk who seek them out for jewelry and decorative objects.
For this reason, his arms and chest are particularly well-developed, although obviously, due to the unique anatomy of steelhead, they are not very well defined, being covered in a thin layer of fat.
Unfortunately, Peony is envious of his brother and his success, that he earned despite putting in less physical effort than him. Rose can communicate easily with different species, including humans, and launch innovative businesses, while Peony works hard from morning till night, but is incapable of interacting with others or coming up with brilliant ideas like her brother's.
Furthermore, while his brother is friends with a female sea warlock, Peony was the victim of one who tried to kill him and eat him, leaving him with an ugly scar on his tail. Peony is therefore frightened of these magical, predatory beings and feels intense resentment toward his brother, who befriended one of these creatures instead of distancing himself from them in sympathy for what happened to him.
