A gift made by my good friend gameboyred
As it's the Holiday Season, I did commissioned to make some nice drawings for some other friends, but at the same time, I prepared something too that you might see soon. We had a kind of an exchange as he surprised me with this drawing. He knew I was a big fan of Juri Han and that I also like his character, the cactus gal known as Rita.
I liked this so much that I decided to write a short story about this. What can I say? I was inspired and this is just great.

Again, thank you for this, Red and well, all that is left is for everyone to read the story that is down below.
For the first time in a while, Vic was having a pretty good week.
He was expecting the month to start with something chaotic, but instead, everything went well. Phoebe, as usual, was helping him tidy up the apartment and put everything in order, Lizzie was too busy to even make one of her usual appearances to check what the masked man was doing. Overall, every single task and project he had to complete ended without many issues. The only thing he would consider out of the ordinary was Rita’s sudden visit to Neon City.
The cactus gal agreed on visiting him again after he helped Jerry and her rescue Levi from that group of Jynxs that were planning on kidnapping and using him for their own enjoyment. She didn’t mind taking some days off to visit the elegant man, seeing it as the fairest thing to do, and even prepared to get some nice things from the colorful and a bit dangerous city. It was good seeing her again, but the issue was that she just arrived when Phoebe and he were finishing cleaning the office.
“We’ll be done in a couple of minutes. For now, sit down and make yourself comfortable,” Vic said before he carried the new chair into the office. If he wasn’t so busy, he would have taken the cactus gal out and shown her the dangerous yet colorful city, but luckily for her, she understood that he was in the middle of something and let him continue as she tried admiring her surroundings.
Her lack of eyes might make it impossible for her to have a clear view of the apartment, but thanks to her special sense, she could feel that the place she was in was a comfy place. Vic even made some changes since the last time she was there, making it seem like it was a completely different apartment. The addition he was the happiest about was the new bookshelf that had some of his favorite books and some items that belonged to his personal collection. He did mention that he had an interest in collecting certain items like pocket watches and things linked to his favorite games and Rita knew that she had everything in good condition, but as she went closer, there was one item that stood out for her.
“What's this?” The cactus gal asked as she held a dark box. She didn’t know why, but being so close to it made her feel something else, a sensation that while strange, was a bit soothing. All it took was a few seconds for Rita to become more interested in its content, but what she didn’t know was that the top of the box had a warning, about not taking the item inside without the necessary gloves. Of course, she didn’t notice that, nor thought about having to do that and while she knew that Vic hadn’t given her permission to take the contents out, she still did that as she was very interested to know what was inside. “It’s a small box, so of course it had to have a small thing.”
In her hands, Rita had what felt like a round gem. Vic did mention his interest in some gems and precious stones, liking its colors out of everything else. Rita thought that this small gem was a simple thing, an item that maybe Vic recently got and wanted to put in the shelf before taking it somewhere, but what she wasn’t aware of was that she made a big mistake. Before she could put the round gem back in the box and check how Vic was doing, the cactus gal felt something else from the object she was holding.
“Maybe…maybe is a gem that helps others relax. Knowing his work…maybe he was planning on using it for…a pendant…” She did remember his work and the items he used to “convince” others to change their mind, but the gem wasn’t for that. He got it last week, getting a surprise gift after a special task. While it didn’t look like it, this gem was based on Juri’s Feng Shui Engine and thanks to its link to the sadistic gal, there was an important detail: if someone let its guard down, there was the chance they could get corrupted by it. Sadly, because of her curiosity, Rita felt victim of its power and slowly by the minute, she was letting herself be taken by it. “I should…put it back, but…a few seconds won’t…hurt…”
While a bit easygoing and also being someone who got distracted easily, Rita was a strong fighter and could resist any kind of attacks, but as she had her guard down since the beginning, being drawn by that nice sensation, Rita put herself in a difficult position…but at the same time, she didn’t care. Those few seconds with the captivating gem put her in a state that wasn’t like any others, almost like drifting into a nice sleep.
“I could…talk to him and…convince him to…give me this…” the gem belonged to someone she considered a friend and felt it would be wrong to steal it, even though she already snatched some valuable items from others before. This thought was the gem making another attempt at corrupting Rita, and while she tried fighting that idea, it didn’t take long for the cactus gal to reconsider what she was planning to do. “Or I just can…take it…without telling him…”
Stealing from a friend was bad, she knew it, but at that point, Rita no longer had control over herself. The gem helped her relax and the idea of taking it with her continued to be in her mind, soon becoming the main idea there. She gave in as her spines and herself were completely in bliss and there was only one thing left to do, something that not only would enhance this feeling, but would make her enjoy it at its fullest. Without thinking twice, the cactus gal carefully placed the gem in her eye socket…and was wrapped into the most wonderful sensation she ever felt.
Unlike the first part, this went at a faster pace. In the blink of an eye, everything around her changed and instead of worrying, panicking or feeling that there was something wrong with her, Rita just giggled, continuing to enjoy going deeper into that state of bliss. As the cactus gal had a good time, Vic just finished working in the office of his apartment, ready to give something to Rita after making her way for so long.
“I apologize for making you wait. Phoebe wanted to check the projects we have for next week, but well, now I’m free and we can…Rita?” He couldn’t believe his eyes as the cactus gal looked completely different. His own interest in video games made it easier to notice that she was sporting a similar style as Juri Han and while this was indeed a nice sight, noticing that the box that he bought last week was opened, Vic knew that this wasn’t something to be happy about. “Rita…you have to listen to me…”
“Why would I listen to someone who obviously looks like he can’t be up to par with me,” she embraced her role, acting like she was that sadistic fighter and not the intrepid and adventurous gal who she was. His next attempt didn’t work either, with the elegant man falling down after Rita kneed his leg. She wasn’t aware about the danger nor cared about that and thanks to her not finding any amusement or fun over staying in the apartment, the cactus gal decided to leave. “This was almost fun, let’s not do this again any time soon. Now, if you excuse me, I’ll go and find a real challenge. Bye!~”
It was far from strange seeing someone causing chaos in Neon City, rare would be for the opposite to happen, but this was different as there was the chance Rita could be in danger. Yes, it was partly her fault as she took an interest in the gem, but Vic knew that if he wasn’t that busy, he could have stopped this. The only option left was for him to find Rita and take the gem away from her, a task that while sounding simple, was difficult and he knew that. “Phoebe, I’ll be out for a while,” the masked man said before he put on his trench coat and checked that he had all of his tools with him.
Knowing Rita, Vic expected her visit to be a bit chaotic, but he never thought the mayhem would come from his part. His latest treasure caused the cactus gal to be corrupted, becoming someone who looked and acted like Juri Han and all that was left was for him to stop her before something bad would happen to her or someone else…or both. For now, his priorities were in finding the cactus gal and after this was solved, the elegant man hoped one thing.
That the rest of her visit wouldn’t have problems like this later.
