When it came to the idea of triggers, I sometimes find myself enjoying a subtle but no less significant type of trigger. For me, locations are powerful things, and often we see that in real life. This includes people swapping accents or perspectives depending on where they are, or acclimatizing to a climate that they previously had a lot of trouble with.
So it makes sense that locations with stronger transformative properties might exist within the realm of fantasy. People usually enjoy the trigger to be something more solid, a relic to pick up, or a zap of a laser gun, but rarely can the transformation happen simply because of general existence.
I think that's why I enjoy location triggers. They represent the idea that the transformation can be an explorative journey. A slow shift in perspective that discombobulates just as much as it aids the lone traveler. One that by the end of it leaves them wholly changed in new and unique ways, both from their travels as well as from the transformation itself.
It seems not even I am immune to the draw of certain transformative locations. This temple I've come across seems rather inviting to my curiosity, so much so that I can practically feel myself 'growing' attached to its depiction of serpents already. Certainly makes me wonder how it might feel to be one...
A wonderful sequence from a fantastic artist. I've enjoyed working with Beezle over several commissions now, and they never disappoint. Looking at this sequence, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it before as a naga transformation. Hopefully, it can inspire some of you for your location-based TFs as well!
Until then, HISS HISS!
