Krinair Classification
Morphotype I - Cave-Channels
Status:
An evolutionarily isolated and highly specialized branch of the Krinair species.
Habitat:
Inhabits clustered cave systems deep within massive mountain ranges. These environments consist of complex networks of vertical and horizontal tunnels, shafts, and dome-like chambers, largely cut off from the surface world.
Evolution & Adaptation:
Prolonged isolation in near-total darkness led to strong morphological divergence. Cave Krinair are the most anatomically distinct morphotype and are sometimes considered a separate evolutionary line within the species.
Anatomy:
Body fully covered in dense protective plates
Complete absence of fur due to stable underground temperatures
Wings heavily reduced and functionally vestigial
Eyes highly specialized for permanent darkness
Extreme light sensitivity; bright light causes disorientation and physical discomfort
Light & Vision:
Artificial lighting is avoided even within their settlements. Illumination is kept minimal and resembles natural subterranean light from underground plants, bioluminescent microorganisms, and symbiotic fauna.
Locomotion:
Exceptionally adapted to vertical and inverted movement. Capable of navigating walls, ceilings, and narrow ledges with high efficiency, making them unmatched in three-dimensional subterranean environments.
Social Traits:
Least communicative toward other Krinair
Prefer small, closed groups
Avoid surface affairs and external contact
Isolation is an adaptive trait rather than a cultural choice
Morphotype II - Cold Tropics
Status:
The most cold-resistant and thermally adapted Krinair morphotype.
Habitat:
Resides in one of the harshest regions of Pavolt. Although located in an equatorial zone, extreme elevation creates a cold, sharply continental climate with tropical characteristics.
Environmental Conditions:
Sudden temperature shifts
Cold, heavy humidity
Strong winds and blizzards
Rapid warming periods with oppressive heat
Flora:
Dominated by tough, hard-leaf plants capable of surviving both freezing and short-term overheating.
Anatomy:
Body fully covered in thick fur
Dense insulating mane around the neck and chest
Protective plates hidden beneath thick skin and fur
Small, compact ears minimizing heat loss
Reduced, fur-covered crest
Large wedge-shaped nose actively involved in thermoregulation
Overall Appearance:
Visually the most massive and soft-looking morphotype, concealing a dense, highly protected body adapted to extreme climates.
Morphotype III - Dry Tropics
Status:
The most rigid and stress-resistant Krinair morphotype.
Habitat:
Harsh dry tropical regions resembling dense savannas with gigantic trees.
Environmental Conditions:
Long drought seasons
Strong dry winds
High dust concentration
Sharp climatic fluctuations
Anatomy:
Narrow eyes protecting against dust and sand
Flat nose without a pronounced wedge
Ears laid back close to the head
Body covered with protective plates
Flowing hair-like strands from head to chest or abdomen, serving protective and possibly signaling roles
Behavior:
Dry Tropic Krinair are blunt, irritable, and highly territorial, reflecting constant environmental pressure.
