FRI JUL 18 2025
this friday i had managed to catch up on my art journal and be up to date with the latest day of the year on it!!
funnily enough, currently i'm about 12 weeks behind on it right now lol (60 sketches)
clearly that'll take me a while to catch up on again, so i don't worry too much about it. I know i can output about 5 sketches a day, so if i really put myself to it again, i might be able to catch up on it again in about 2 weeks time of 5 sketches a day
however, i am often quite mentlaly exhausted after work, and since these sketches actually take a degree of planning and ideating to try and come up with interesting concepts, it does feel mentally taxing to make 5 of them in 1 day, although this is a very personal creative endeavor, i always like looking back at these and being reminded of older days, even of this year.
This will be the very first year ever in my life where i have essentially a picture comic book of my life, which i find quite interesting. Some of the sketches in my journal even blend together into small "sagas" where certain semi-long term happenings in my life make multiple appearances throughout my journal, and i can make a visual retelling of what i went through
i dont know about anyone else, but i find this to be immensley valuable and fulfilling. What is life about if not the stories we tell, of others and of ourselves. It's a core of the human experience, and i'm happy to be spending my life retelling it

There is definitely something valuable about putting all those little moments to paper, without it they are surely forgotten! And it does capture the human condition, I love your gallery for that very reason.
Used to draw daily on notecards in middle school, I can still remember almost anything that was going through my head the moment I drew the card! And it’s simply just fun to look at what we’ve made it through and to have some pride in that.
