A lot can happen in two years, although appearances can be deceiving no matter what it is you're looking at.
Let me explain.
Emmet doesn't suddenly have the Christmas spirit (which is unlikely in any event)—he has a scheme going and was about to head out to see it through.
But it seems that while he was down in the lab getting ready, somebody opened up the front door and let in a bunch ofweirdos I mean houseguests.
