I slightly redesigned my version of how Santa’s elves appear in my Rudolf story.
I've said it before, but my unpopular opinion is that I’ve never particularly cared for the typical Christmas/Tolkien elf designs that are just humanoids with weird ears. Hell I think mythical creatures that are just slightly tweaked humans (hobbits and gnomes for example) are just boring in general (Tolkien would hate me for saying that but honestly his loss 💅)
Might just be my inner furry but for me a mythical creature instantly becomes more appealing if there’s some animalistic trait to it, so that’s what I did for Santa’s elves. Originally I designed them as little rodent people with mouse and squirrel tails, but recently I thought of an idea that the Rudolfverse elves originally belonged to Krampus + were the same species as him, but Santa rescued them. So I removed their long tails and gave them some more goat-like features. I guess they kinda just look more like satyrs but the goat traits extend all the way to their upper half
Also if anyone’s concerned about the elves working for Santa even after being saved from Krampus, don’t worry. Santa Claus pays his elves a living wage, makes them work less than 40 hours a week, and gives them paid time off. The father of Christmas in my story ain’t no capitalist pig
