Basically a horse or stag in the book made of ice and snow ther comes to life after the lady of the cold who wanders the forest during winter and freezes people to death when they look at her face kind like a Medusa and the horse will carry them off into the sky promising the victims friends to carry them to a world for ice and snow but actually it just eats the victims body. Usually the lady of the cold is riding it chasing down people making them look at her.
