I got it in my head that I would like to do nice portraits of a bunch of my characters, for several reasons:
It's fun, I need to work on detail and being mindful of my brush strokes, composition and lighting and color practice, COMMISSION EXAMPLES for the future, haha.
I really like character portraits, and working in a square is kind of a fun challenge.
Anyway, I don't know when I'll finish these, since I have plenty of more important pieces to finish before I can continue with these. Sorry to post messy stuff!
Kija was a dystopian RP character and a lemur/fox mix.
Artesian is a bat/fox/armadillo mix.
Bapsef was another character in the dystopian RP and an egyptian mau.

Thanks so much, that's exactly what I was going for! Smiling, but for different reasons and with different emotion behind it.
I used to do a lot more; art school requires it pretty much every semester, so it's been common for me to have at least one class every semester that has a large chunk of required life drawing in it. And, technically I guess I 'photo-life draw' every time I make a new picture, since I use reference, take photos of myself, etc.

Glad to be of help.
As for life drawing, the results really show in your work. I used to do a fair bit of life drawing... I learned when I was about fifteen, and took a college course in it too. I don't do so much of it these days, tho. My first resort when I run into a problem is still to look up image reference and spend a few afternoons doing studies. I'm rambling now, though, sorry.
BTW: my bro saw the pic when he was looking over my shoulder just now, and he said "that's a WIP?!"
Also: I'd fav' this, but I'm waiting for the final. :3
