I liked the previous sketch enough that I decided to complete it, even though I didn't really originally plan to. Getting more used to the tablet, the added control over the mouse does come in useful sometimes. This piece also marks a re-reintroduction of cross-hatching into my shading flow. I stopped doing it previously because I kept forgetting to, but I've decided to try again because it looks nice. This time the opacity is a little lower so it blends in a little better. The facial features do look a little indistinct when zoomed out, but I haven't really been able to find a solution to that besides just doing all the lineart in black which I am loath to do as I find it sort of ruins the look.
The character pictured is Purtram Rogers, another one from my writing projects, pictured in his earlier role at the Purite Advanced Projects Laboratory before the Catite War of Independence. An Amur Leopard, since his well-publicized role in defecting to the Catite side and aiding in the development of Cate's energy weapons program which played a significant role in securing Catite Independence from Pur, he has somewhat shifted tack, pursuing politics as the leader of the centrist-positioned "People's Alliance for Democracy in Cate" simultaneously with his continuing teaching role at Hamilton Republican University.
