Snow was crunching and hissing in equal measure as the two figures walked down the clear path between the snowy woods, Vel's voice laughing playfully as he looked around at the environment around them. "You know, I never stopped to really take in how pretty snow just makes everything." He said, completely unbothered in nothing but a light jacket, the snow hissing off his scales as the flakes fell and the ground under his feet thawing out puddles as he stepped, a sure sign if there was any that he was a born fire dragon, and his body ran hot without any magic modulating it.
Alongside Veluren, a lighter set of footprints were crunching in the slow with a slower pace. "Y-Y-Yeah v-v-v-very pretty." Ran'dol said with a shiver, wearing as much winter clothes as he could to endure the weather. The desert originating reptile had an appreciation for the visual of snow, but not the freezing temperatures that came with it "W-w-we al-almost there?" He asked, shivering from the lack of internal fire like his mate.
Veluren glanced over at Ran'dol, giving a small smile that looked pretty empathetic for his plight as he planted his hand on his head, "Just another half-mile or so and we'll be passing Mari's, then it'll be right to town." He nodded as he looked him over. He felt bad for his exothermic mate's shivering, but the alternative was flying, and he'd be even colder in the sky on dragonback. "If nothing else, all the steam they use to power the city is run under the streets so the sidewalks are warm."
Ran'dol simply stuck his tongue out as he stood still, shivering and pouted with his arms folded. "A-Alright." He said after a moment, registering that pouting with his arms crossed wouldn't get them closer to Xyrisa faster and he really needed the warmth "I-I-I want hot cacao as soon as we can when we get there." He wiggled his tail, trying to get the long cap he got for it back on.
Vel's smile now was trying very hard to not turn into a laugh at his expense, finding it both funny and adorable that he was acting so indignant. "Once we get our winter shopping done, I'll give you cuddles and buy us some cocoa, how does that sound?" He responded as he used the claw at the end of his wing to re-adjust his mate's tail cover.
Ran'dol nodded as he moved to walk more with Vel, tail twitching to join the cover Vel was helping to adjust. "D-d-d-deal." He said with a nod, sinking into his winter clothing more, leaving more pawprints in the snow, slightly jealous of his mate's internal temperature that just left half-melted and slowly freezing over puddles in their wake.
Merry Christmas everyone!
We usually try to have at least one seasonal thing planned each year, and this time we decided to get something a little cute and silly. Vel's a born fire dragon, so naturally he's less than bothered by the cold since he's endothermic and runs at least 110 degrees farenheit without subduing it with magic. No such luck for Ran'dol though, since he's an exothermic dragon from a desert land, he's gotta put in... a good deal more work to stay warm.
Hang in there hun, there's hot chocolate at the end of the walk!
