Christmas at the Farm
A Thursday Prompt story

Prompt: chorale

Furs from the nearby town drove out to the farm on Christmas Eve to see what the owners had set up, and they weren’t disappointed. The farmhouse was decked out in lights, glowing so brightly it could be seen for a mile across the snowy fields. The trees dotted around the house were also festooned with lights.

Inside, the house was decorated with holly and pine boughs, and refreshments – cocoa and cookies for everyone, mulled wine for grownups – were available for free.

Shortly after eight that evening, a group of equines wearing warm clothing, scarves and hats, gathered outside to serenade everyone. The group was composed of equal numbers of mares and stallions, and they gathered behind a fenced area whose posts were made of a porous stone from the ocean.

The chorus had been practicing for months, and the townspeople listened as they began to sing in very good close harmony.

Everyone thought that the coral corral chorale was a great success, and should be a Yuletide tradition.
