Well, they're just trying to survive too, so I've got nothing against them. :3 Hell, I'm the type of person to catch flies that got inside in order to get them outside without harming them. xp

Most insects, yeah. I’d rather try to catch a spider and take it outside than kill it.

But a housefly? They’ll just come back inside even if you put them out. They may just be trying to survive too, but it’s hard to respect them when they go land on (and eat) literal waste and then decide they’ve taken a fancy to your chicken nuggets.

Butterflies also land on and get nutrients from waste. :3 And if they land on us, it's because of our sweat. But they're more stereotypically pretty so we don't even associate these aspects with them. x3 Personally, I think what we think of as disgusting is very human-centered, lots of "gross" stuff is vital to how nature's ecosystem works. Also, fly screens exist, we literally have ways to let fresh air in without flies getting inside too. That's my opinion, at least, I understand people's annoyance with them, though I've stopped relating to viewing flies antagonistically a long time ago, especially once I learned how interested and varied diptera can be. Might be a very unpopular opinion, but I find them kinda cute. :3 Besides, we probably breathe in more waste particles from flushing the toilet than from flies landing on our food. But yeah, again, that's just my view, I can understand most people strongly disagreeing with that. Many people are biased against insects that are considered annoying, and I am biased towards them. Both sides hold some level of truth.

I… genuinely didn’t know that about butterflies. I guess it really does come down to how they look.

Also, about the flushing the toilet thing, I generally try to leave the room as soon as I flush to avoid breathing it in, as I feel that most people should.

It's all about nutrients, no matter where those nutrients come from :3
