(If you like this picture you can commission me here http://vaporeonlugiakrabby.homestea.....mmissions.html .)
Been waiting for ever to get through my commissions, have a bit of a break and get to the game concept art I'm suppose to be working on. As Call of Cthulhu is now under free domain, the designer/programmer I'm working with on this project wanted to do a quirky, competetive game based after a Polish board game (also under free domain). I've already done most of 3D work for it, but the 2D icons and character concepts I've yet to complete. To keep it simple, I was given a list of mythos characters to choose from, and told to go nuts any way I felt, just don't make them really freaky. More or less what I did was dA search against their names, and figured out who was popular enough to use. Of the Great Old Ones I picked: Cthulhu (duh!), Hastur, Zoth-Ommog, Ithaqua, Eihort, Yig, Atlach-Nacha, and Tsathoggua. This one is Zoth-Ommog.
Zoth-Ommog, I swear was designed by slapping animals onto a dart board, then throwing willy-nilly at it. Success! I got a t-rex, sea anenome, and a starfish. Now what the heck do I make out of this?
I think this is the only full profile, down shot of Zoth around. And probably for the best since he really holds center stage with all the whirling arms (and also doesn't look quite as retarded). Was my favorite gesture, and probably will be my favorite period in terms of design. I like T-rexes, well, the dinosaur heads of them, so a fun one for me to play with and texture.
(Looks a lot different then my Mewtwo, Pokemon and furry stuff, no?)
Photoshop CS4.

Zoth works well for the dramatic center pose. I couldn't stand making him look ridiculous since mostly people who draw him, put what you see here, on top of the long, gelatenous cone-shaped body he has. From a normally angle, this thing is huge, and looks absolutely dorky.
