Here depicts some examples of traditional garb for my original alien species "The Krii" -These are clothing sets for the long-haired Temperate variants. From left to right we have: The Forest, Plains, Desert, and Alpine peoples.
Descriptions:
Forest-
Clothing:
Temperate Krii from the Forest Clans are known for their colorful and waterproofed Acohtay silk robes which they wear throughout the rainy spring and humid summer, usually forgoing bottom garments until the colder months arrive. These robes typically get thicker and longer once the colder months arrive, and are often worn with the addition of a Vashi-fur-lined hooded capelet once the snow begins to fall.
Since forest Krii often travel on foot, it is common to see individuals adorned with plate or chainmail armor to deter bandits and to protect their hides from run-ins with predators or brambles; armor is also typically hidden under the robes, as one does not want their armor to be glinting in the sun; a shiny Krii slowly walking down a well trodden path would most assuredly draw the attention of the Acèā'tōri -"Sky hunters" (Giant birds.)
Thankfully the fluorescent colors which the forest krii tend to dress in typicically does not have the same effect, as most Korrinthian predators perceive their environments exclusively in short range thermal and high definition monochrome.
Storage:
Forest Krii often embark on foraging missions which can take them away from their clans for several days at a time, therefore, they typically travel kitted-out with everything they could possibly need as they trudge through the dense underbrush of their forested homelands. Tents, lanterns, sleeping bags, rations, firemaking and triage kits; hatchets for gathering wood, aswell as vials of various scent-concealers and lures, they even carry antivenom and poisons, all neatly stored within in their comically large backpacks, tailpacks, and within the saddlebags on their vashi-mounts.
Protection:
Curved machetes are the way to go amongst forest Krii, perfect for hacking through bramble thickets or lopping off the limbs of would-be assailants. In a pinch, these Krii are also known to throw their hatchets like tomahawks with deadly accuracy, a skill which is usually picked up at a young age; as axe throwing is also a common game enjoyed during their many yearly festivals.
Plains-
Clothing:
Plains Krii typically purchase the majority of their fabrics from the textile forest clans in large, colorful bolts, and stitch them together in such a way that they are more breathable and fit for extended riding; they are also known for adorning their outfits with fur from their Vashi racing mounts, as well as feathers which the bravest of riders would snatch from the backs of the predatory Zèrākèi during their attacks.
Storage:
Backpacks and tailpacks usually carry little more than a modest supply of field rations, a large water skin, and tools for taking care of their prized vashi mounts and hunting bows.
Protection:
A Plains Krii’s primary mode of protection is speed, as little can keep up with a Racing Vashi amidst the wide open fields of their grassland homes, though, it would be a fatal mistake to think these peoples unarmed; they are incredible mounted archers, said to be able to thread an arrow through the eye-socket of a Zèrākèi -(Feathered raptors) from 30 meters away while riding at full gallop. They carry recurved short-bows and fire from atop the saddles of their mounts, the added momentum dramatically increasing the penetrative power of their serrated metal arrowheads, often punching clean through their targets, breastplate and all.
Desert-
Clothing:
Desert communities don’t need insulation, but the sun kills and blowing sands albate; so thin cloth, baggy robes and hooded head coverings are the way to go here. Clothing patterns can be a bit plain as desert peoples seem to be fond of solid colors and minimal layers, but in these somewhat lawless expanses of sand its probably for the best to not look like a wealthy target.
Storage:
Large backpacks and tailpacks are essential for survival in the dunes, often carrying several days of rations and a pair of large water skins alongside a small temporary pop-up shelter for wheathering sandstorms.
Protection:
Predators may not be an issue amidst the arid dunes, but bandits certainly are; Desert peoples therefore traditionally carry a pair of bladed short spears which can be either thrown, or wielded like dual swords. These blades are intentionally forged long and narrow, both to reduce weight during their long travels, and to provide an edge in slipping between or piercing any concealed armor their attackers might have tucked under their robes.
Alpine-
Clothing:
Alpine Tribes live in colder climates and will therefore wear more clothes for insulation against their environment; fur-lined ponchos, layered tunics, and heavy cloaks with large baggy hoods protect their vitals from the blistering cold, while thick sleeves, gloves and boots made from kneaded hide are bound tightly around their arms and legs with colorful ribbon or thick leather straps, often waterproofed with lacquer for trudging through the saturated landscape. Hobnail soles tied to the bottoms of their boots help them cling to the steep ice-covered paths when climbing, while snowshoes and skis are commonly worn for downhill travel or traversing deep snow in order to keep them from sinking into the fresh powder.
Storage:
Alpine Krii must carry all of their worldly belongings with them in their travels between their seasonal homes, so the contents of their heavy and well insulated backpacks and tailpacks can vary between individuals; firemaking kits are a must to survive their freezing climate, as are several sets of field rations, a triage kit, and tools to make an emergency shelter.
Protection:
Weapons from the Alpine clans cannot be built thin or flimsy, the freezing cold would shatter such dainty things after the first use; heavy war-clubs and axes are a favorite amongst these peoples, often modified to serve multiple purposes such as ice climbing picks, walking sticks, or improvised hunting traps.
