If you watch the movie most of his movements are based largely on dogs, cats, and even horses and the only time lizard-like (highly charicaturized versions of the movements) are purely for comedic affect. They somewhat base his anatomy on lizards, but most of the movements don't follow.
It's moot anyway because in the movie he never sits in the way that's depicted in the above image. The thing that's the most broken in that scene is his neck.

Neither does he, his tail is entirely unlike a croc's other than that it's thick. This is probably one of the lesser biology defying movements he did in the movie, this one can at least work on a skeletal level and in the movie he was partly supported on his feet giving room for the flesh of his tail to boot (kangaroos do this and their tails are more rigid than his). Hell if anything the angle of his neck was the worst offender in that scene.
