I drew this thing nearly a decade ago, it embarrassingly still holds up well. I never bothered to throw color up on it but eh. I might someday. I was experimenting with wing membrane shapes at the time, I am hopefully better at it now.

The thing this lady is turning into is an Utini, a species from the webcomic Inhuman. They're not showcased much in the story, but that makes sense in-universe. For specific info on them, this is the species infopage. I did add some bits of artistic freedom, like the larger wings and foot claws; they just made sense to me. Don't worry about the small arm-wing, it's just still developing.

As for why this might be happening, probably an attempt to repopulate an endangered species. Someone else closeby is probably turning into a Mite for the same purpose. Hopefully those two would be free of the cultural animosity their new kin have.
