"Let your light shine, Guardian."
Amendelwyr's magic isn't something she wielded skillfully in an hour. It was a very long time. Entire cycles passed with failures, mistakes, unfortunate accidents. She stumbled, got frustrated, felt everything was useless. She doubted, hesitated, and had even bordered on forsaking the very idea of trying... How could someone become perfect?
The truth was, she wouldn't be. The truth was, there was always going to be something she was going to be 'imperfect' at. Especially long-lived though dragons were, they were still mortal, still fallable. The truth, when she finally allowed herself to accept that, to see beyond her own fear of regret, allowed her to make progress. The choices she'd made up to this point were preparations for the choices she would now make. Perfection was never the point, it was just the ideal. Effort improving to become 'more perfect' was the journey everyone made.
Living through sorrows, through pains, through fears, through rejections! How could she be what she has become if not for that? Her power lives as a product of those experiences. Good and bad both.
So when she faces off against the darkness. Her light still shines.
