Akiko is a Shiny Fennekin Witch of Faiths Flamekeeper. Witch and Wizard are not Magic Genders, they are very different rolls and should not be gender exclusive. Wizards are like a magical Physicist focused on how magic works. Witches are like Magic Medical practitioners focused on how magic effects the body.
In pathfinder Witches are more akin to the D&D Warlock where they get their powers from an otherworldly patron, but while a Warlock's patron treats you like an employee, a Witch's patron treats you like a Student, there to teach a lesson to their practitioners. The Theme of Akko's Patron is Faith's Flamekeeper: Your Patron is there to remind you in moments where your willpower was close to sputtering out that nothing can seize the heart like faith, giving you the strength to carry on and bring others to your cause.
The name Akiko means Crystal/Clear or Shiny/Bright Child, a descriptive name for a Shiny Pokemon. It's also meant to sound similar to Akko.
Akko is short for Atsuko, but coincidentally Akko also means "Bad Fox" and is the name of the main character of the anime: "Little Witch Academia" by studio trigger which was also the inspiration for her outfit.
Akko is a Japanese girl going to a school for witches. She was inspired to be a witch by the famous performing Witch: Shiny Chariot and wants to follow in her hero's footsteps to be a great Witch, showing the world that Magic is still wonderful in a world that's becoming increasingly more reliant on technology and magic is waning across the world. Akko is hyperactive and optimistic but she has no natural talent for magic, something she struggles with and works very hard at in order to keep up with her naturally talented classmates, but her unshakable belief in magic and desire to do good grants her the ability to use the legendary "Shiny Rod" which should have the power to save Magic!
Also it's a Allegory for Art School which really hit me personally. While Shiny Chariot used to be famous, she was not well respected in the Serious Witch community. Akko wanting to be like her is like someone who wants to be an animator because they were inspired as a child by watching a Magical Girl Anime. There's nothing wrong with that in my opinion, inspiration can come from anywhere.
Like how my my other Fennekin, Dawn is a reference to Naruto instead of a Pokemon version of Naruto, I want this Akiko to be an Homage to the character Akko, not a pokemon version of Akko Kagari. Her name meaning Fox was hard to resist but I found a close name that was also fitting.
