Sweet Empress, SO MUCH PAIN but it is finally here, my biggest, most detailed work ever.
Total time - 43 hours not counting the pre-sketches and other concepts.
So here they are, probably the sweetest (literally) couple I have ever drawn, and the first named Shata'lin characters that have nothing to do with a military or priesthood, they just live peacefully and own a confectionery/bakery. Yes, they make pies, cakes and such. Also - sweet and tasty CUPCAKES (yes, I'm hinting something).
So let us proceed to the character's bios, shall we?
The female is named Meillaya (which comes from the word Meilleyl meaning Honey Bee). She is 273 years old (young for Shata'lin standards) and owns a small bakery with her husband. But before the two met, Meillaya was a rather generic female trying various things at life. She is quite overweight, even for Shata'lin standards but she does not care. Big number of spots on her body, rather big, blue eyes, pretty face and very cheerful and kind personality she was seen as a very attractive woman. In fact, she even entered the beauty contest when she was 148. She did not win but took reasonable, seventh place. Despite her rather big weight, she is still quite graceful. As for personality - she is the cheerful kind, always trying to make everyone around her feel good. She loves a good company and food. When she was 186, she found out that she has a big talent for baking, especially the sweet stuff of all kinds. She had the creativity, cheer and passion needed for such work. Few years later, when she was 194, Meillaya entered the baking contest for young talents and took the fifth place, again, very good for inexperienced baker. However, despite, basically, loosing the contest, it was the most important day of her life. She met her future husband, 48 years younger Indalliel (he is currently 225).
Rather generic (brown eyes, too big nose, rather light-red scales and funny head-pattern), inexperienced young baker Indalliel (his name means Strong-Minded) also entered the contest but took only 23rd place because his cakes, despite good taste were lacking in terms of visuals. After the contest, he went talking to every other contestant who beat him and when he approached Meillaya to congratulate, he basically already knew what was going on. He instantly fell in love. Meillaya wasn't so sure however, at first she believed it was because of common fascination - she was alonely female and the one highest place at baking contest (the best 4 contestants were males). To make the matters worse, she was about to enter her fertile period which already made her quite an interesting 'target'. But months passed, than years and Indalliel was still there by her side, helping her at bakery and learning how to do stuff the right way. 8 years after they met, they both decided to get married with no more doubts about their love. One can say that they've been joined together by cupcakes and bread.

Sorry for a very late reply, but my account here is barely active. Heck, I'm barely active on my main account on DA as well.
Either way - traditional, on paper and only pencil. That is how I roll, both because of habit and lack of proper equipment for digital. I'm not even going to mention lack of patience to master a new medium after all the years with pencil and paper.
