Japan really is a beautiful place to go...I admit that I miss it...

I often miss it, too! Whenever I leave, I'm never sure when I'll be able to go back... I want to keep going back for the rest of my life, though, if I can. I love going to see how Tokyo has changed over the years, but also to visit new places I've never been before. I do feel like maybe I should make a point to visit some other countries, too, but... I just love going back to Japan, I guess, haha

I miss Pittsburghurgh and Tokyo a lot personally.
Like Finland...been a while I haven't been able to travel...

... Also, if the Super Nintendo World Mario Kart ride was anything like the one in Universal's Orlando park, it sure is something neat.
Also, the Harry Potter rides are all motion simulator things, so you probably didn't miss out on too much.

Hearing range goes weirdly suddenly. I could hear up to 17kHz into my late 30's, then suddenly lost the top 2kHz of my range in a two or three year span.

Wow, that's really specific. How do you know that with such precision? Not that I doubt you; I'm in my late 30s now, and I think my hearing abilities are beginning to wane

There are YouTube videos of frequency tests. Use good headphones. Pause the video when you hear sound. That's at least as high as you can hear. Possibly higher if your headphones aren't up to spec.

Also had a history of being bothered by the buzz of lights and similar that no one else in the office could hear.

Also I got an ICOCA in Osaka but ended up misunderstanding it thinking I was supposed to use it to buy a ticket that would be registered to the card I OVERTHOUGHT IT AND PAID DOUBLE FOR ALL MY TRANSIT which still wasn't that much frankly.

Ouch! Oh well, mistakes during travel do happen. It's all part of the experience, lol. At least next time you get to visit Japan, the transit will feel SUPER cheap by comparison lol

Oh god yea my hearing has been very sensative my entire life so the mosquito frightens me. i have run across things that others never heard. coilwhine is a common one for me.

Gosh that sounds like it would be so annoying! Being pestered by persistent noise that other people can't perceive...
Just out of sheer curiosity, do you feel your hearing sensitivity has any effect on the kind of music you tend to enjoy?

anything too shrill will usually cause me alot of pain and headaches so i try to avoid that. My musical taste however tends to be all over the place otherwise. I know people that have the ability to hit high notes tend to produce a similar sharp pain so often i have to listen to deeper feminine or male singers if i do tend to. Flutes and other high pitch instruments are also hard to listen to.

and i can't really risk going to any concerts. aside from being agoraphobic. any feedback tends to leave me in pain for at least a hour afterwards.

I only have one card with a touch chip, but I adore opening my wallet and tapping the pad without taking the card out.

I loved that experience, too. I think that's why I held onto my card for as long as I have. However, I recently added my old Suica card to Apple Wallet, and I didn't realize that the process would render my old card useless. It had a message on the screen that said it can't be recharged anymore. Sure, my phone will be a lot more convenient, but... sigh. I guess it's just an old souvenir now...

I had a school pass when I was in Japan.

Back in the 70's however so it was a plasticized card with a magnetic stripe which needed regular replacement, had to run it through the slot.

It's been wild seeing the slow disappearance of the magnetic stripe these days. Even though they're still around, they're pretty much never used in my life anymore.

Haha I wondered if someone was gonna mention the Bellibolt sticker XD When I've made other autobio travelogues like this one, I put stickers I gathered on the journey on the covers. I meant to do the same with this one, but somehow ended up with just one sticker. I guess I wanted to use the other stickers I obtained elsewhere instead of "wasting" it on a journal that mostly sits, cover hidden, on my shelf. But now I think it would be more fun to make more of a point to obtain stickers for the express purpose of using them on the travelogues' covers.

Anyway, that Bellibolt came from a single-serve package of sweet bread, cake, or something along those lines. They are very common and always come with a random Pokémon sticker. I wish we had them in the states lol

I'll do my best to have a good time and keep up with journal comics! It's all too easy to put 'em off, but I think it's better for my memory to do them. The fact that my friends like to read them is quite nice, too, so thanks! X3

Oh wow!! Yeah I bought my bellibolt sticker at MFF 2024! but the person didnt have very many of them, maybe that's why... or could simply be a reprint or something, who knows. <xD

The trick to the first one is to get a lanyard and/or ID card holder, I like the extendable ones you use for office buildings. So you can clip it to your keys or bag and whip it out easily.

oooh so that's why that one corridor in one of the osaka metro station feels like a pain to walk through
