So! the day has finally come to announce the Secret Project!
A few years ago I had mentioned that I had written a children's book. I'm now happy to announce Princess Sophia & The Dragon !
The Story behind the Story:
A few years ago I had sever writer's Block. I had finished An Unexpected Blessing and was in decisive on what story to do next.
Jump to one of my sister's basketball games, I was sitting next to a family that had a few little kids, and the Mom pointed out to the girls that I was an artist.
I got out my sketchbook and when I asked what I should draw, the said a Mouse Princess.
They gave me the description, the color dress she wore, etc.
When I asked what the story was, they said "She has to be saved by a knight from a dragon!"
I knew then I had to write this story, and wrote the first draft late that night.
As pleased as I was with the story, I sat on it for the past few years not knowing how to design Sophia. While I was able to crank out thumbnails for the illustrations, and the design of the dragon and the knight, Many of the sketches in my sketchbooks are just me trying to work out her character and design.
Finally last year things clicked while at Starbucks, and from there I was able to throw myself into Illustrating.
It's been several months, from Monday to Friday, and Wow, I'm so glad I can finally say I've illustrated this story ^^
Progress:
All Illustrations are inked, and the color process has begun, which is taking me a good while to do. a cover has yet to be done.
So we still have a ways to go before the book is finished, but we've crossed a huge milestone in the journey to being published.
So looking forward to sharing the story with you all!
Happy New Year!
