Boat things, duh c:
In the Thunderheart lore, there are a pair of Iowa-class ships (As well as a pair of their smaller in universe counterparts, the Dallas Class Heavy Cruisers) that are around into the 2020s all because CN was real nippy in the 90s and looked at the US and were like "Yall are stupid. You are not getting any better at ground attack ships. So die about it. Your ships are stupid anyway."
Our congress and military turned a whole 180 and were literally like... "Fuckin' bet, man. We are keepin' them around incase we need 16" artillery.
The Iowa pair hit their last refit/rebarrel in 2016 in universe.

In the lore there is another line of Des Moines hull based cruisers called the Dallas. built in the early 1950s in order to compliment the need for longer distant naval bombardments beyond the range of the Iowa batteries. They are pretty much Des Moines but their stern and back are entirely built for the emphasis of hundreds and hundreds of large cruise missiles.
The Dallas class. I'll have to post some of that stuff soon too I suppose.
