There is a bit of lore from my old DnD campaign in this since both that story and Eduardo's are connected.

Living forever as a vampire was not something she would've wanted from her father. But as the only daughter, her father, who ruled a kingdom lost to history, wouldn't want her to die young from her sudden assassination by a vampiric ghoul all those centuries ago. The king put Mina in a coma-like trance and sealed her away. The magic used on her was effectively incubating her now tainted vampiric blood as she was comatose. As she came to, she became a vampire without the usual bloodlust or rage as those who had turned sooner. But by then, her father was not himself anymore. The king was an old man with little recognition of what was going on in his kingdom, with his servants practically running everything this time. Knowing her new nature, she no longer felt welcome to her home and left. Even after all this time, Mina still blames her father for her curse, not realizing that he actually saved her from a fate worst than death.
