1/72 X-Wing Star fighter T-65B
This is for my cousin (not the M110A2 one). He's a Star Wars fan, and his favorite aircraft is the X-wing, so I planned to make a model for him.
I did a lot of research beforehand, and that's when I learned that X-wings have different models (like the F-35 fighter jet, which has A, B, and C variants). The version shown in the initial movies was the T-65B, while later movies featured the T-70. The biggest difference in appearance is that the T-65B has four circular air intakes and a more pointed nose, while the T-70 has four semi-circular air intakes and a flatter nose.
He prefers the T-65B, since it's the aircraft Luke Skywalker used.
The original kit for this model was designed to depict an X-wing fighter dropping plasma torpedoes through a vent. However, because I frequently play Helldivers II, I particularly enjoyed the Eagle's 500kg bomb attack (used in almost every game). In the game, the Eagle would perform a high-speed dive from its orbit, drop the 500kg bomb, and then climb back to orbit at high speed (I even took several in-game photos for reference when designing this model). This model uses the same idea: the X-wing fighter climbs at high speed after dropping the plasma torpedo to avoid the aftershocks of the explosion—that's the origin of this scene idea.
To better create the explosion's flame effect, this is the second time I've used an LED lighting system in this project. The entire lighting system is powered by a single 18650 battery.
