(If you like this picture you can commission me here http://vaporeonlugiakrabby.homestea.....mmissions.html .)
Been waiting for ever to get through my commissions, have a bit of a break and get to the game concept art I'm suppose to be working on. As Call of Cthulhu is now under free domain, the designer/programmer I'm working with on this project wanted to do a quirky, competetive game based after a Polish board game (also under free domain). I've already done most of 3D work for it, but the 2D icons and character concepts I've yet to complete. To keep it simple, I was given a list of mythos characters to choose from, and told to go nuts any way I felt, just don't make them really freaky. More or less what I did was dA search against their names, and figured out who was popular enough to use. Of the Great Old Ones I picked: Cthulhu (duh!), Hastur, Zoth-Ommog, Ithaqua, Eihort, Yig, Atlach-Nacha, and Tsathoggua. This one is Eihort.
Eihort is basically described as a blinky, gelatenous ball of who-knows-what with spindly legs all over place. And he crawls around in catacombs, apparently somewhere under London. General accepted look of him basically is what you see here, though eyes may be placed differently, the shade of purple varies, and no one does the same type of legs or in the same places. I went for some knee on knee thing.
Mr. Blinky, I mean Blobby, I mean Eihort, is probably the least anthropomorphic of the Elder Gods I was stuck with. In some way, that reduced the challenge, and in other ways, it makes it really confusing. "Should I make it more simplistic, more complicated. I hope it doesn't look like a brain!" If I showed this to a Lovecraft fan, and said this is something from the Mythos, they'd know who it is. Still an ugly bugger though. 3 down, 5 to go. This was the weirdest, so at least it becomes slightly less strange?
