Hart Attack (Bret Hart's Theme): SNES Style (WWF RR)
NOTES: I could not fit the full title into the title bar; it should say:
Hart Attack (Bret Hart's Theme): SNES Style (WWF Royal Rumble)
Given how I wanted to get back to my roots (the music of TV game shows for the most part) for 2026, I decided that this will be the last pro wrestling theme I arrange for now. However, I didn't base it off the real thing this time; I based it off an SNES game version, which is why it's the same loop of 16 measures on loop several times.
The SNES game in question is WWF Royal Rumble, and the man associated with the music I chose to do is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be, Bret "The Hitman" Hart. One of Canada's greatest wrestlers the world has ever seen, he had many highs and lows in his career, with the highs coming from his championship wins and the way he revolutionized wrestling, and the lows including him being the victim of the Montreal Screwjob, as well as a career-ending head injury courtesy of Goldberg (something Bret has never forgiven him for, even though he has buried the hatchet with his old nemesis and now friend, Shawn Michaels). Nonetheless, if I had to pick a favorite from the wrestling themes that I know, it's this one, because it's an instrumental, and I prefer instrumental music over music with words. (No lyrics means no dirty content; at least I hope it means that. And tell me something; if Bret was willing to forgive Shawn, why won't he forgive Goldberg?)
The SNES and Genesis versions were released three months apart, with each version having several exclusive wrestlers. The two versions share seven wrestlers: Bret Hart, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Razor Ramon, Randy Savage, Crush, and "The Narcissist" Lex Luger. The five remaining members of the roster differ between versions. The SNES version features Ric Flair (who had left the WWF back in February to return to World Championship Wrestling [WCW]), Mr. Perfect, Ted DiBiase, Yokozuna, and Tatanka. The Genesis version replaces them with Hulk Hogan, IRS, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, "The Model" Rick Martel and Papa Shango.
My take on this, based on the game's track, is for:
Sax section (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone)
Large drum kit
2 electric guitars
5-string bass guitar
This arrangement © me and me alone
Original music © WWE and all others who own the rights, and composed by the legendary Jim Johnston.
WWE © itself and its parent holder, TKO Group Holdings, et al
WWF Royal Rumble © Sculptured Software (developer), Acclaim Entertainment (publisher), and everyone else who owns the rights
