Sometimes I use reference photos with the idea of generecizing (is that a word? We're pretending it's a word) a reference photo so it looks less like the original photo. I took a photo of my friends dog and was going to use it it to make a more generic silken portrait but I just couldn't do it. Goji's profile is so distinctive and elegant. I finally gave up and just drew her. Then gifted this to my friend.
