Sometimes, a home is sharing some good curry with the ones you love.
Tuther has timed a joke particularly well, possibly at Bori’s expense. Samna is amused while Bori can’t help but laugh.
I enjoyed every minute of reading Far Flung by Utunu
and I was immediately compelled to make fan art of the boys enjoying a nice meal together, laughing, snuggling up to each other, and enjoying the time they have together, once I finished the novel.
This book is my current year literary obsession. The characters are so much fun and the novel’s focus on their emotions and relationships to each other, even in a fantastical sci-fi setting, felt really weighty, considered, and lovingly crafted.
Far Flung deserves SO much more fan art and I absolutely can’t wait for the sequel to release in the future!
I’d strongly recommend this one to anybody who’s looking for a sci-fi romance/adventure that has adorable characters, psionic powers, and is openly and apologetically gay ❤️

So, the thing I tend to focus on in my writing is characters and relationships. It's important to me, and having characters one can relate to or be engaged with is super critical in at least my enjoyment of reading/writing.
I say this because Far Flung was very much character-driven, and the trio's camaraderie, relationship, banter, and affection was something I thoroughly enjoyed writing, and hoped it would come across. And the great thing about your image here, is you captured that. You can absolutely feel that camaraderie and banter and affection between the three in the picture, and I love that! <3

I’m absolutely thrilled to hear that! The quality of your character writing made this a surprisingly easy scene for me to visualize. I think, among the many qualities of your writing that I really enjoy, the thing I appreciated the most was the way you would actually write the physical ways the characters emote and react with one another. What I enjoyed about each of the protagonists, they all have this quality of banter they share with each other that gives their relationships such a clear feeling of depth and interiority. The way Tuther can cut the tension with a bit of humour, the way Samna is able to intuit his friend’s feelings and dedicates himself to supporting them, and the way Bori navigates his looming fears with the help of his partners gave them a really excellently textured dynamic! Okay, mild spoiler tag but one of my absolute favourite scenes in the book was when Samna sees Bori brushing Tuther’s fur after they’ve showered together and he sees how close they are, how tender they are, and he walks away, trying not to cry. Oh man, that scene hurt to read, and I mean that in the most complimentary way I can express. That sense of longing is so effectively conveyed, very painful, excellently executed scene. >:3 And it’s these moments of seeing them act and react to each other that really helped me understand and appreciate their personalities and mannerisms. I could go on but you get the idea. I’ll probably have to make a Goodreads account over this. 😆
I'm very glad that all came through!
I did enjoy writing that spoilered scene, although it was a bit tough. You might be interested to hear that I have an art commission of that very scene that is almost done, so I hope to share that soon!
Hey, if you manage to leave a rating or review or something on Goodreads, that'd be much appreciated--every little bit helps us indie authors. :)
