"🐑 My limits and worth as a person are being abused here every single working day, and I hate it."
"😽 I'm completely disregarding your feelings if charmingly. Now get back to work and remember how much I love you as a motivation to keep accepting this abuse!"
This method has always worked to keep Sally under Senanca's control for as long as he needs her. Or anyone else who has a marketable lack of self-respect, really. That's why this good old strategist here tends to hires those selectively.
On a sidenote, I believe that any gardener should feel insulted by my comic by now, as I'm making up random bullshit plants as I go. Haha.

Another great example of how skillful Senanca is at manipulation. This is a great trait for a successful crimeboss to have. If you have to resort to threats every time to get others to carry out your bidding, then you will not long have that position of power. Senanca clearly knows it is often better to use honey to get his way instead of blood. Of course, violence and threats are also, I am sure, in Senanca's toolbox. Sometimes, you do have to threaten life and limb to achieve your goals, but it is good to see him skilled in using words and praise to get the same result. If you are being forced to do something you don't want, you will be resentful, and always looking for a way to betray your boss. If your boss convinces you that he truly needs you and likes you, you are likely to do what he wants out of a sense of loyalty.
Senanca is an amazingly written crime lord. My hats off to you again, good sir!

Thank you so, so much for your comments! :) It's really awesome feedback like this that keeps this comic alive. I love learning what the readers see in my story and characters. And how you describe Senanca is spot on, too!
My story explores, among other things, the different prefered ways my crime lords deal with problems. Senanca manipulates, practices control over your mind, uses a carrot. Kevin uses fear, practices control over your body, uses the whip. And then what happens when the two crime lords get in a war with each other?
Of course the story would be too small if Kevin was the only problem Senanca has to face.

I feel for Sally, here (and I'd hire her in a heartbeat).
I've walked away from several jobs where the 'boss' thought he could get me to do his bidding by playing dominance games or outright threats. In one case the corporation gave the boss in question his walking papers (told him to retire or be fired) and in two others, well, the company ceased to exist.
