I hate it when it's totally okay for someone's favorite character to be used in one of their favorite fetishes, but the moment that same character is used in a fetish they don't like or approve of, it's always "erm, not canon, they wouldn't do that..."

Yeah, I can relate, honestly.
"You're using them for a kink I don't have" is NOT the same as "totally and completely out of character." In fact, the reverse is true, too: just because someone IS using them for kinks one likes doesn't necessarily mean that's somehow "canon" for the character now.
Just learn to accept everyone has different things they're into, people, and we all have different interpretations of creations we love. We're all complete weirdos, let's try to tolerate one another. XD
