Age: 21
Species: Phoenitaran (Avian)
Pronouns: She/Her
Height: 5'4"
Personality Traits: Kind, Soft-spoken, Naive, Disciplined
Ela's childhood was quiet and peaceful, being raised on a farming colony in the outer reaches of Allegiance space. When she wasn't helping her mother, who was the head of their community's holy temple, she was at home in the garage with her father fixing up their farm equipment. The most excitement she'd usually get was when her father let her fly the crop duster plane around for a few hours, under strict supervision of course.
Ela always wanted to be a holy healer, like her mother, but for reasons unknown to both her and her family, the practice of magic completely eluded her. Even with the magical arts only having been discovered a mere two decades prior, it was highly unusual for someone such as herself to struggle with it quite so. Despite this, Ela always did her best to carry an upbeat attitude, and was determined not to let such a thing shake her faith in her deity.
In the winter months, her uncle, Attano Balturim would fly in from the heart of Allegience space for a week or two, on leave from his highly classified duties as Royal Protectorate for the Phoenitaran Councilman. Naturally, much of his time each visit was spent regaling his niece with stories of his service, often in far more detail than one in his position probably should. Her favorite stories of his, however, were from his brief career in military espionage before his current role.
While Ela loved her quaint, rural community, she couldn't shake the feeling she could be doing more to help others in need. Not just in her own hometown, but out there among the stars. Combined with a longtime desire to get out and explore the galaxies, Ela would approach her uncle on his next visit. It took half of his stay of quiet begging, but Attano eventually agreed (With great reluctance) to teach Elthezira everything he knew. From marksmanship with a handgun, the best practices for keeping a low profile, and even the basics of hand-to-hand combat.
After some months of training, unbeknownst to her parents, Ela snuck off into the night with little more than a bag of clothes and her gear, and hitched a ride on the first freight ship bound for the central colonies. There, she would pick up work as a freelance investigator, gathering info on local criminals and thugs and quietly relaying it to the local authorities.
One of five main characters for my upcoming webcomic project, The Free Life. A Sci-fi/Fantasy Adventure following a motley-crew of bounty hunters forced to work with one another to escape an immense debt.
