Oh yeah, some one offs with Doggert are good. I think Robert Patrick is good actor anyway, so when it works it works. but in terms of the "duo" yeah they don't work as well as scully and mulder, since they are so simaler with not as much contrast. I know there was a reason David was off the show for those seasons, but also got to think any show rarely is consistent after so long.
