[COMM] Royal Winter Venue (ft. Gale) - by Toughset

Being an orphaned child, Alex never really had any reason to attend high-class gatherings... mainly because he wasn't high-class at all. In fact, he'd been quite notorious as a scoundrel and thief, partly for survival but partly to do what he could to help the less fortunate close to him and home. All of that changed when he was hired on by Rodaph himself, and suddenly he needed an entirely new skillset. Even though his new boss acted less like a baron in the privacy and sanctity of his home, he instilled within Alex a rigorous training regiment that soon had him cleaned up and acting no differently than a proper born-and-raised gentleman.
Alex's first big test was nothing major, just a simple venue held towards the end of the calendar year at a frozen palace a week's voyage from the estate. While both Rodaph and his twin sister Varna were invited, Rodaph declined as he had other business to attend to, but gave the invitation to Alex. The raccoon thought he was going to be Varna's "plus one", but as it turned out, she had a romantic interest she would be bringing for that spot. That left him potentially without a partner. Not a huge deal, he would've thought. Varna would likely be more interested in her boyfriend, leaving him the task of keeping an eye out for their mutual safety.
Not so, his boss pointed out, as he knew a friend of a friend who was willing and eager to accompany him: a very tall Shimerean by the name of Gale Olphinneas. Being a vertically gifted example of his kin himself, he figured she might be a couple of inches taller... how wrong he was. Still, she was very lovely to be around on the voyage to the gathering, falling in love mainly with her strong accent, and used every trick in the book he'd read from his boss to butter her up.
On the night of the gathering, he donned his new suit and awaited to escort his new partner. He'd never seen a girl like her before, let alone in a dress, so color him floored when she presented herself in a very regal get-up that highlighted her best features. As they made small talk while exploring the gathering floor, the two couldn't help but notice a curiosity not far from them...
Knowing Alex, he probably stole both the suit and the girl from someone - just don't tell Gale that ;P
