Similarly to my OC Inari, Ereshkigal (Eri) is based off the Sumerian Goddess Ereshkigal ( ππ©ππ π²) who was the goddess of Kur, the underworld in Sumerian myth. She is also referred to as Irkalla, which was believed to be the lowest point in the cosmos. There isnβt much in terms of depictions for Ereshkigal as it was believed to this could summon her as well as the possibility of there being no universally agreed upon version to a death god early on. This ambiguity allows for a lot of creative freedom which I certainly used, and similar to Inari, Eri has left modern day Iraq as she is no longer worshipped and has not been for a much longer time.
