The mythology of Davros
This is part of my AU where daleks evolved naturally rather than being created in a lab. While Skaro was being ravaged by the nuclear war between the kaleds and thals (reimagined as two races of the same ostrich-like species rather than 2 separate humanoid species), the radioactive fallout caused a series of random mutations that allowed a new species to develop sapience, a species that would learn hatred from the violence that surrounded them...
Dalek artwork portraying their creation myth. Daleks creating drawings like this is very rare, as art like this is widely seen to have little value in their society. Dalek myths tell of a kaled scientist named Davros creating them as ‘the purest being’ with the purpose of wiping out all other life, but in modern times most daleks understand this story as metaphorical. The piece appears to be an abstract depiction of Davros ‘inventing’ daleks, either side of him are a representation of the daleks life cycle from egg to larva, with their final adult form represented by an eye. It has features typical of stylised dalek illustrations, like sharp lines, geometric shapes, a focus on dalek features to convey kinship (both Davros and the mutant are depicted with dalek eyes), and an overall aggressive feel. This remarkable artwork was found hidden within the walls of an abandoned dalek factory, it's likely the artist stashed it away in fear of being deemed insane by others of their kind. While dalek elites are typically allowed more freedom of expression, individuality among drones and soldiers is seen as taboo.
