If you travel northwest into the desert from Del Rio, Texas, eventually you will come to Devil's River. Since the 1830s, stories persisted that there lived a feral girl who was raised with wolves after her human parents died. Many had attempted to find her and bring her back to civilization, but none were successful. She was said to have lived into adulthood with her wolf family and died of old age. It is said her ghost can still be seen out there, near the Rio Grande, with her wolf family by her side.
