The hallucinogenic mucus he normally secretes through his skin has become a venom restricted to the fangs. I'm quite happy with that headshot, I used to not be able to do perspectives like that back in the day..
I also enjoy the pattern with on this guy's tail. Besides the cobra inspo, there's also a garter snake inspo (especially the puget sound garter snake) from which the vertical bars and dorsal stripe are derived. It's simpler then the real deal, but the pattern still feels distinctly snake-y, almost to the point of invoking a texture imo.
