The Thing That Lives in the Swamp

"It was an abomination even Lucifer cain't make, the thing I saw in the swamp that evening. I been out fishin', but left pretty early; when night started makin' his way, what I cain't call no smoke or fog shrouded the air. It was lookin' like black vapor, but even that ain't what it was. So I was makin' my way through them dead trees up in the southern end of the water when I vaguely done seen a raggedy 'ole dog house juttin' out from the mud. I was cur'ious, seein' as there ain't no houses down there, so no hound woulda been livin' there. I got a bit closer, and my grip tightened around the tacklebox and rods when I heard somethin' givin' a gurgly growl from inside, somethin' that sounded almost tauntin', and out that bastard came. I saw a line of barbed wire start snakin' around, and that thing came wobblin' out all crooked-like, a walk I cain't even begin to explain. It was almost like trottin', but more exaggerated. He was still just sneerin', smilin' at me like a psychopath. And I tell ya: That won't no dog. Won't even close. He was a biggen', whate'er 'e was, but too small to be any breed I know of. Hell, he didn't fit no animal I know of. Hair like a man's drooled o'er 'is eyes so I couldn't see; his canines were long like a cottonmouth's and drippin' with venom; them claws was jagged as the branches of naked trees; its right arm was filthed and decayed so you could see them muscles and I think some gangrene; his tail was like some mix between a rat's and a worm; and on his tan-ish back were these scattered patches of hot, tight, skin that discerned from the fur. He was pullin' at that barbed wire that wrapped 'round that spiked collar, but I ain't sure if he was even try'na get off, since I'm damned sure he coulda pulled the stake from the slippery ground if he wanted to. I think he was teasin', maybe. But I tell ya- I dropped my stuff and ran like a buck from a shotgun. I ain't caught no fish that day, and I know damned well why: Ain't no thing that could even bear livin' near that freak, even if they was underwater. 'Cuz if anything, he was the devil's 'lil boy.
I don't go in the swamp no more."art all the way back from 2013??? oh well i still love it A LOT. this was my final for my art class. the bottom left corner actually got torn up by my dog and i ended up having to improvise with clay slip. :^) sure wish it hadn't been torn, but ya gotta do what you gotta do. to this day, this is still one of my favorite art pieces i've ever made.
